MacNeille polarizing beam splitter
MacNeille polarizer made for use in one of our own instruments/ The MacNeille polarizer splits the s and p polarizations with 99.95:1 ratio. These polarizers work over a broad wavelength range but only over a small range of input angles.

Note: the non-45 degree angle of the beam splitter

P polarization is much more inclined to transmit at large angles (in the 45 degree range). The challenge for coating designers is to adjust the transmission of the two polarizations to meet the requirements of the beam splitter. For more information see our Optical Calculators .
